KING CAT IN STORE

We are really proud to have some issues of King Cat in the store. King Cat Comics & Stories has been a neat zine through my life. I've known John P. (P = Porcellino) since I was in high school. While I was a big noise and heavy metal kid, I was really taken by John's band Felt Pilotes. I'd always go to their shows as they embodied a kind of sensitive and poetic rock 'n roll that was very rare. John was always making his King Cat comics and one could be sure to grab the newest issue at a local record store. King Cat has a stripped bare simplicity and every day nature to its tales. Everyone has King Cat stories in their life, the meaningful moments one may have by simply walking down a street, or shaving, or seeing a squirrel do back flips.

I have many John P. stories from those days. I remember he and Steve (the Felt Pilotes guitarist) came to watch our noise band the Secret Girls at our high school talent show. The show had strange sort of cabaret theme. I wish I had recorded our set, but nonetheless John and Steve, who were in their 20s, must have got a kick out of that.

John P. also has a fantastic label called Spit and a Half, which has also been publishing things since the days I've known him. It is a great depot of many independent zines. Spit and a Half also used to release a lot of music. Many of the music title can be found on its Bandcamp page. I remember really liking the 7" he put out called PROFILES IN COURAGE. It is a document of all of Spit and a Half's high school bands. It is an endearing time capsule into the punk fury of 1980s high school kids in Chicago.

MORE WARANGEL GAMES AND RACES
Angelo Porazzi has sent use a new batch of Warangel games and new Races! They are already going fast. He has sent a few new races including TIMELORDS, NINJA and MAGES. His artwork is sooo good, and his ideas of races so fun. He told me that all his maps (which he handpainted) are based on land somewhere on our planet. I'm guessing the Ninja race must be Japan? But what would the Timelords be? England? IDK, I should ask him.

CAVE EVIL RULE VIDEOS
Getting some of our Action videos finally finished up. I figured out somewhere at the beginning of 2025 that it'd probably take me to mid-year to finish the rule videos. I wish I could zoom through these faster, but the time of the day and other things that have to be done can get in the way. We finally finished the INVOKE action vid, but I have yet to do all the rest of the actions. Of the Actions that are left to do Excavtion and Combat will take the most time.

It will be worth having all these video be done right. Hopefully they will help new players grasp the rules for time to come.

We are hard at work on new Cave Evil things and I think having these base game videos will help people jump into the new stuff easier.

FAVORITE PIC OF THE WEEK
