Horror Rises from the Tomb (Spanish: El espanto surge de la tumba), is a 1972 Spanish horror film starring Paul Naschy and directed by Carlos Aured. The film introduced Naschy’s character of Alaric de Marnac, an executed warlock who returns to life centuries later to wreak his revenge. It was followed by a sequel, Panic Beats, in which De Marnac returned. The film seems to have been inspired by the 1958 American horror classic The Thing That Couldn’t Die.
Notes from Pit of Shadow: Horror Rises from the Tomb is the ole cut the warlock's head off and get your family bloodline cursed for generations to come tale. The first 5 minutes, though cheaply shot on horses, has more atmosphere than most digital shot film nowadays. Is it the film stock making the period seem accurate or overall production itself?
this is the complete uncut version of this film! color, widescreen, 89 minutes, dubbed in English. includes commentary from Paul Naschy (who always reminds me of John Belushi), the US trailer and more. DVD-R comes packaged as shown in color DVD case, wrapped in plastic!
