Visit the Weird Decaying City of Moth Hovel is a system-agnostic old-school urban pointcrawl adventure suitable for dark and gonzo campaigns. The adventure is set in the decadent and depraved weirdo city of Moth Hovel. It includes anthropomorphic vampire moths, gangland politics, a sadistic artificial intelligence, and two uniquely weird locations (a predatory nightclub mimic and a hallucinogenic war carnival peopled with undead monstrosities).
UNDYING SANDS / MOTH HOVEL MANIFESTO
The adventure was nominally designed for use with Games Omnivorous’ Undying Sands, but it can also be used as a setting on its own.
Visit the Weird Decaying City of Moth Hovel is an independent production by Moth Hovel Games and is not affiliated with Games Omnivorous. It is published under the Games Omnivorous Third-Party License. It was originally designed for the Undying Sands & Bottled Sea Jam hosted by Games Omnivorous in May 2023.
It complies with the Moth Hovel Manifesto (v1):
- Only z-fold layouts (back and front) are allowed.
- Imply more than you explain.
- Include at least two undead factions.
- Make animals figure prominently.
- Embrace camp and intertextuality (i.e., shameless pastiche).
WHAT'S INCLUDED?
The adventure includes a print-and-play U.S. letter/A4 z-fold layout for the GM, including bizarre locations, disturbing creatures and cultures, and tables for rumors, tomes, and tumors, as well as a list of inspirational material. Also included is a high-definition image of the Moth Hovel City hex, which can be printed, glued to suitable materials, and added to the starter set of punch-out hexes included with Undying Sands.
